Parenting by design - 2 days workshop

Date: 24 & 31 May
Time: 8:30am - 2:30pm (2 breaks with refreshments)
Target Group: Parents of Upper Primary Lasallians
Fees: $15

Every child and parent are gifted with unique personality types.Parents who can identify and influence their children according to their unique personality types will be more effective. We have so often heard of the saying : “Train up a child in the way he should go.” Do you know that the word “way” denotes “bent” or “personality” ? Every child should be trained according to his or her “bent”.

Using the DISC personality profile, the Parenting by DESIGN workshop helps parents identify their own personality types. When parents get to know their own strengths and weaknesses, they will be able to develop parenting strategies that are less stressful and more effective.

The workshop was an eye opener for me, I better understand my children’s behavioural patterns and temperament and also myself and my husband’s, this will definitely help me in my struggle to put the family together in a better peace and harmony environment

The friends I met in the workshop are also friendly and helpful. The sharing of our daily encounters & problem is a knowledge that I will treasure

The 2 days 6 hour time frame is long but necessary. The topic is wide and with the longer sessions, some important issues are addressed. Should encourage couple to attend together. The children should be encouraged to attend such seminar to make more aware of their feeling and behaviour.

Being SEX smart

Date: 10 May 2008

Time: 9am - 12:00pm

What is sex? How do babies come about? How do I come about? When can I start dating, and why shouldn’t I? And what's wrong with having sex before marriage since everyone else is doing it?

Being Sex Smart addresses all the issues above and more. It explores firstly the areas of healthy sexuality & how to mentally prepare yourself to communicate effectively with your teens.

Secondly, in confronting the paradox that everyone else is doing it and that it is not a problem.

Being Sex Smart provides insights in the area of personal responsibility that involves making wise choices and taking into serious consideration the consequences and the costs of making such choices. With the above and more, parents are better equipped to talk and help their kids in the areas of sex and healthy relationships. Be Sex Smart for you and your child!
