Target: P6 Lasallians
Time: 1:45 - 2:45pm

The television, computer, home entertainment systems are becoming common in our lives. They are means for relaxation, leisure and education. However, have parents ever wondered the effects of the media on their children’s mood, thinking and behaviour? What about the influence the messages have on them? The speaker will highlight the cyberworld as the new playground for children and the potential dangers of spending too much time in it. Parents have to be aware of the effects on them first and how it affects their children’s health, values, character and the way they spend money. The speaker will also suggest ways to use media and highlight the necessity of parent-child communication rather than cyber world-interaction.

Parenting by design - 2 days workshop

Date: 24 & 31 May
Time: 8:30am - 2:30pm (2 breaks with refreshments)
Target Group: Parents of Upper Primary Lasallians
Fees: $15

Every child and parent are gifted with unique personality types.Parents who can identify and influence their children according to their unique personality types will be more effective. We have so often heard of the saying : “Train up a child in the way he should go.” Do you know that the word “way” denotes “bent” or “personality” ? Every child should be trained according to his or her “bent”.

Using the DISC personality profile, the Parenting by DESIGN workshop helps parents identify their own personality types. When parents get to know their own strengths and weaknesses, they will be able to develop parenting strategies that are less stressful and more effective.

The 2 days 6 hour time frame is long but necessary. The topic is wide and with the longer sessions, some important issues are addressed. Should encourage couple to attend together. The children should be encouraged to attend such seminar to make more aware of their feeling and behaviour.
