Communicating
sexual issues to their kids can be a very challenging task for many parents.
Some feel embarrassed. Others do not know how to start a conversation on the
subject. But majority simply do not know what to say about the subject. Youth
today are very tech-savvy. If parents do not teach them about sex, they will
find out via Google.
Sex education is
not just about the sexual act. It is also about values. It is therefore
imperative that parents equip themselves with the necessary knowledge about sex
so that they can in turn impart that knowledge and more importantly, their
values, to their own children.
The speaker for this talk, Mr David Seah, is a very
humorous and engaging Family Life Educator. He is a father of 3 kids, aged 22,
19 and 11 years. Hence, he will be sharing not only the theoretical aspects of
parenting but also from his own personal experiences as a father and as a
counselor.
Mr David Seah will be sharing on the various stages of
psycho-social and psycho-emotional development of a child and how you can adapt
your styles and your roles to become an effective parent. Only when you
understand what is happening to your child can you communicate with him/her
effectively.
